Bye Bye, Plateau!

Week ?
Pounds lost - 10!

I did it, I did it! I rolled out of bed this morning at 6:30am (thanks to the stray cat howling outside my window) and decided to go weigh myself. And guess what?! I FINALLY hit the 10 pound mark!! You have NO idea how motivating this is for me. Hopefully this is a good sign of things to come, and not some kind of fluke. It took me, what, 3 weeks to lose a half a pound? I hope they're not all that hard to lose. Although, I admit my diet was not as good as it could have been, and I haven't worked out in a couple of days because I injured my hip on the treadmill. But this makes me want to go eat nothing but egg whites and salad. OK maybe not. I am going to take a break from the treadmill, though, and let me hip heal. Maybe I'll do some Pilates.

Well, I'm off to party at the park!

Stuck

Week 8
Pounds lost - 9.5

Hello everyone. Sorry I've been away so long. I didn't have much progress to report this week, and life gets in the way. You know how it goes. Anyway, I had to take a minute to update everyone. Although I've been stuck at 9.5 pounds for over a week now, I'm happy to report that yesterday I had to go shopping for some new jeans and I bought a size 14! I haven't been in a size 14 since before I was married! I've also gone down two more holes in my belt. So I know that although I haven't seen the scale move lately, SOMETHING is going on! It seems like this time last month I had the same problem. It must be cyclical. But this time I didn't freak out when the scale didn't go down, I just kept doing my thing. I also learned the importance of giving in to cravings from time to time (within reason). I had been craving a quarter pounder with cheese all week almost to the point of being obsessed. I finally worked it into my daily calorie count one day and splurged the burger and a small french fry. I ended up in the bed with a stomach ache - craving cured.

Week 6
Pounds lost 7

Well, I did it. I lost two more pounds this week. YAY! That makes seven all together. I didn't work out super hard this week, but I did workout and I watched what I ate. To celebrate, we went out to eat at Carabba's. Not really, we just happened to have a gift card. It was not easy to eat light there. Everything is filled with cheese and cream. I told hubby that the only thing on the menu I could eat was the salad. And there was no way I was going to go to Carabba's and just eat a salad! I think I made good choices, though. I looked up the calorie count when I got home and I didn't do too bad.

One happy side-effect of losing weight was that I had to buy new bras and underwear and a new belt this week. I just hate buying new things. He he. : ) I also bought a new scale. I paid extra to get the grandaddy Cadillac of scales. It measures weight, body fat, bone mass, muscle mass, and it does your laundry and brings you breakfast in bed. (And it looks cool too.) Brynn loves to get on it. I hope I haven't started something.

Lazy Dayz

I don't know what's wrong with me lately! I haven't worked out in 5 days! I have been watching my food intake carefully, so that at least I won't GAIN any weight (hopefully). I just hope that it's not too late and this week isn't a total blow-out. I'm making a vow to get back on the treadmill tomorrow - and praying for a miracle.

I'm back!

Week 5
Pounds lost 5

I didn't blog last week because I had a very bad week. I got very discouraged and ended up in a downward spiral of self-loathing and bad thoughts. I got a little too obsessed with the number on the scale. It took a good long pep talk from a wonderful friend to remind me that this is about my health more than my weight, and that it's a marathon, not a sprint. I am happy to report, however, that I got back on track and went on to lose 2 more pounds this week! It was not easy. I spent many hours on the treadmill (not fun) but I stayed focused on the big picture.

Superbowl Sunday was not a huge success for me, but it's the first splurge I have had (other than "the week of whom we do not speak"). I have decided to put away the scale for now so we don't have a repeat of last time. And it looks like I'll be eating lettuce for breakfast.

Good news, Bad news

Week 2
Pounds lost - 3

Well I have good news and bad news. The bad news is, I only lost 1 pound this week. I know what you're thinking; that's good news, isn't it? And I am thankful that I lost weight at all, but if you only knew how hard I have worked out this week. Well, for me anyway. Which leads me to the good news. I started out the week running on the treadmill 5 minutes at a time. Five walk, five run, five walk, five run, etc. for a total of 35 minutes. It's also worth mentioning that I increased the speed slightly each time I ran. By the end of the week, I ran 20 minutes! In a row! Without stopping! I feel strong. I feel like running up a mountain. Maybe I'll do that someday.

Stressful week

It's official - I'm a stress eater. This week has been very stressful for us. My husband replaced the dishwasher on Monday and two days later, the water heater went out. By FRIDAY we still didn't know why we didn't have any hot water, and I couldn't stop eating! At least I can say that I binged on healthy foods. Once on tofu lasagna and once on a chicken breast sub from Subway(since by this time we had no clean dishes). Could have been worse, I guess. Back on the wagon I go.
